Renewable Energy Asset Management

An operational solar asset that is not actively managed will underperform. The degradation happens slowly a monitoring gap here, a fault that sits unresolved for weeks there, a performance ratio that drifts without anyone noticing. Over a 25-year asset life, the difference between a well-managed and a poorly managed system is measured in hundreds of thousands of pounds of lost generation income.

Arc Renewables provides asset management for commercial and utility-scale solar portfolios. We monitor performance, appoint and manage O&M contractors on your behalf, produce structured financial and technical reporting, and advise on lifecycle interventions repowering, equipment replacement, warranty claims at the right point in the asset’s life.

We are not the O&M contractor. Arc is the oversight layer the function that ensures the contractor is doing what they are contracted to do, that the system is performing to its modelled output, and that the information reaching the asset owner is accurate, timely, and actionable.

Benefits

Effective renewable energy asset management can lead to significant financial, operational, and strategic benefits for businesses. Some of those benefits include:

Performance monitoring

Continuous system monitoring against modelled yield. Arc tracks performance ratio (PR), availability, specific yield, and degradation trends across your asset or portfolio. Deviations from expected performance are identified, diagnosed, and escalated to the relevant contractor not left in a monthly report for the asset owner to action.

O&M contractor management

Arc appoints and manages the O&M contractor on your behalf, reviews contractor performance against SLAs, and manages the interface between the contractor and the asset owner. If a contractor is underperforming, Arc replaces them without the asset owner having to manage that relationship directly.

3

Financial and technical reporting

Quarterly reporting covering generation performance, revenue, O&M activity, fault history, and forward maintenance requirements. Arc’s reporting is written for asset managers and fund managers not for engineers. It gives you the information you need to make decisions about your asset without requiring technical translation.

Lifecycle advisory

Arc advises on major lifecycle decisions warranty claims, inverter replacement, panel cleaning and testing programmes, end-of-warranty inspections, and repowering assessments. The right intervention at the right point in an asset’s life protects generation income and long-term asset value.

3

Portfolio asset management

For property funds, REITs, and logistics operators with multiple sites, Arc provides portfolio-level asset management consolidating monitoring data, standardising reporting, and providing a single managed service across sites of varying age, technology, and O&M contractor.

Key distinction

Asset management is not the same as O&M. O&M is the physical maintenance of the system the inspections, repairs, and reactive fault response carried out by qualified engineers on site. Asset management is the strategic and performance oversight of the system the function that ensures the O&M contractor is doing their job, that the system is meeting its financial projections, and that the asset owner has the information and the advice they need. Arc provides asset management. O&M is delivered through approved contractors Arc manages on your behalf.

Frequently Asked Questions – Asset Management

What is the difference between asset management and O&M?

Asset management is strategic oversight: performance monitoring, contractor management, financial reporting, and lifecycle advisory. O&M is the physical maintenance of the system. Arc provides the asset management function and manages the O&M contractor Arc does not employ maintenance engineers or carry out physical work on systems.

What reporting does Arc provide?

Quarterly reports covering: generation performance vs modelled yield, performance ratio and availability trends, O&M activity summary, fault history and resolution log, financial performance, and forward maintenance schedule. Reports are formatted for asset managers and fund finance teams.

Can Arc take over the management of a system with an existing O&M contract?

Yes. Arc can be appointed as asset manager on systems where an O&M contractor is already in place. Arc reviews the existing O&M contract, benchmarks the contractor’s performance, and manages the relationship going forward.

What scale of system does Arc manage?

Arc has managed systems from 80-panel commercial rooftop installations (Helical Bar The Bower) to utility-scale solar farm portfolios. The monitoring and reporting framework scales to the asset.
